What does Commitment Fee mean?

A commitment fee is a fee that is paid to a lender in exchange for the lender's commitment to provide a loan at a later date. This fee is typically paid when the borrower is obtaining a mortgage or other type of loan and is used to compensate the lender for the time and resources they will spend processing the loan.
