What is Electric Service Panel?

An electric service panel, also known as an electrical panel or a breaker box, is a central distribution point for the electrical circuits in a building. The electric service panel contains circuit breakers or fuses that protect the electrical system from overloads and short circuits, and it may also contain meters or other monitoring devices. The electric service panel is typically located in a central area of a building, such as a utility room or basement, and it may be accessed by a door or panel for maintenance or repairs.
