What is Flood Plain?

A flood plain is an area of land that is at a low elevation and is at risk of being flooded. These areas are typically found near rivers, streams, and other bodies of water, and are characterized by their flat topography and high water table. Flood plains are important to consider when building or developing property, as they are at a higher risk of flooding than other areas and can be more expensive to insure.
