What is Kit Home?

Also known as a "mail-order" or "prefab" home, a kit home is a type of house that is sold in pre-cut and pre-fabricated sections that can be easily assembled on site. Kit homes were popular in the early 20th century as a way for people to own their own homes at a relatively low cost. The kits typically included everything needed to assemble the home, including the lumber, nails, and even the paint. Some of the benefits of kit homes include being able to build quickly and easily, being able to customize the design, and having a lower cost than buying a pre-built home. However, they can also come with drawbacks such as being less energy efficient and not as sturdy as traditional built homes.
