Who is a mortgage broker?

A mortgage broker is an independent professional who helps borrowers find and apply for mortgage loans. Unlike mortgage bankers, who work for specific financial institutions, mortgage brokers work with a variety of lenders, including banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions. They help borrowers compare loan options and find the best loan for their needs, and they often have access to a wider variety of loan products than borrowers would be able to find on their own. Mortgage brokers are typically licensed and regulated by state and federal governments, and are subject to strict rules and regulations to ensure that they operate ethically and in the best interests of borrowers.
