Real Estate Renderings: 5 Architectural Rendering Companies Compared (2026)

Updated November 2026. Each studio’s details were checked on its own website on October 22, 2026.

Real estate renderings are computer-made images of a building or room, used to sell or approve it before it’s built. As of November 2026, 5 rendering companies stand out for real estate work: Freedes Studio, NoTriangle Studio, Lunas, Mir and Betterthan Studio. Three of them state 500+ projects. They differ most in who they serve: developers, architects, agents or brands.

Key takeaways

  • Developers selling before construction need full campaigns. Freedes and NoTriangle both pitch this, with 500+ projects each.
  • Lunas focuses on interactive tools for towers and villas, with web launches in 1 to 2 weeks, per its site.
  • Mir is the name architects know for competition images. It works with firms like Snøhetta and Heatherwick Studio.
  • Selling an existing home? You likely need good photos and a floor plan, not a rendering.

What are real estate renderings?

A real estate rendering is a picture made from a 3D model of a home, tower or room, with light, materials and a camera angle added by an artist. Developers use renderings to pre-sell units, lenders and city boards see them in approvals, and builders use them to show finishes. A 3D real estate rendering firm builds the model from your drawings, then produces the images.

Six types come up most:

Type What it shows Used for
Exterior rendering The building and street at a set time of day Brochures, signs, permit hearings
Interior rendering Rooms with finishes and furniture Pre-sale listings, finish selection
Aerial view The site from above, with roads and landmarks Large projects, master plans
3D floor plan The layout from above, furnished Unit pages and listings
Animation or fly-through A moving tour of the project Sales office screens, launch videos
360 or interactive tour A view the buyer controls Websites and remote buyers

Which architectural rendering companies work in real estate?

We picked studios with a long track record, real estate work in their portfolio, and clear facts on their own sites. The list is in no ranked order. Figures are as each studio states them, read on October 22, 2026.

1. Freedes Studio

Freedes Studio calls itself a 3D rendering studio and real estate development marketing agency. It has made renders, film, branding and launch campaigns for residential developments since 2010. Its site lists 30+ CGI artists, 200+ developers served, 500+ projects launched and work in 30+ countries.

Its service list goes past still images. It covers exterior and interior rendering, 3D animation, aerial views, site plans, 2D and 3D floor plans, virtual staging, 360 virtual tours and branding. That makes it a fit for a developer who wants one team for the whole sales package, from the first render to the brochure.

2. NoTriangle Studio

NoTriangle is a visualization studio based in the San Francisco Bay Area, founded in 2014. It reports 500+ projects for 150+ clients and a team of 20 to 30 people. Production is done in-house by its team in Brazil, with most work in the US and Canada.

It aims at luxury single-family homes, branded residences and multi-unit buildings, plus architects and agents. Services include exterior and interior rendering, animation, VR tours and floor plans. It describes itself as a senior-led boutique that advises on what the images need to do before it makes them.

3. Lunas

Lunas works in two worlds: real estate and e-commerce product visuals. On the real estate side, it builds interactive sales tools. For a tower, that means floor slicing and unit filtering, so a buyer can find the right unit without touring 40 of them. For villas and townhomes, it builds a shareable page per home.

Its site lists 500+ buildings delivered and a typical web go-live of 1 to 2 weeks. That speed suits a sales office that needs something online before the model unit is built.

4. Mir

Mir is a Norwegian studio that marked its 25th anniversary in June 2025. Its own description is short: it makes renders of buildings and the land around them. Its portfolio lists work for Snøhetta, Heatherwick Studio, BIG, Dorte Mandrup and Bofill Taller de Arquitectura.

Mir is less a marketing shop than an image studio for architects, often for design competitions. If you’re a developer, you’d most likely meet Mir through your architect.

5. Betterthan Studio

Betterthan Studio has made 3D product and furniture renderings since 2015. Its work is mostly for furniture brands: packshots, room scenes, 360 spins and animation. Clients on its site include HCD, Yaasa, Style4Walls and Screen Innovations.

It’s the odd one out here. It’s useful for a builder or designer who needs furniture and finishes shown well, or for a model-home package. It isn’t built for full development campaigns.

How do these rendering studios compare?

Studio Since Scale (as stated) Main focus Good fit for
Freedes Studio 2010 500+ projects, 200+ developers Renders plus full launch marketing Developers who want one team
NoTriangle Studio 2014 500+ projects, 150+ clients Luxury homes and multi-unit High-end pre-sales, architects
Lunas Not stated 500+ buildings Interactive unit tools Towers and villa projects
Mir About 2000 Not stated Architectural images Architects and competitions
Betterthan Studio 2015 Not stated Furniture and product Interiors and model homes

None of these studios lists fixed prices on its home page. Most quote per image or per project, after seeing your drawings. Ask for a written quote that names the number of views, the rounds of changes and the delivery date.

How do you choose a real estate rendering company?

Start from what the images must do. A rendering for a city permit hearing, a pre-sale brochure and a luxury listing need different things.

  • Ask for real estate work like yours. A studio great at furniture may not be great at towers.
  • Check the people. Ask who will do your project, and whether the work is done in-house.
  • Get the scope in writing: views, resolution, rounds of changes and file formats.
  • Ask how they handle changes to the plans. They always come.
  • Confirm the license. You’ll want the right to use images in ads, on signs and online.
  • Match the timeline to your sales launch, not to your permit date.

Rendering vs modeling trips people up. A 3D model is the digital building. A rendering is the picture made from it. Our explainer on 3D rendering vs 3D modeling covers the difference. If you’re still choosing an architect, see how to choose an architectural firm.

What to send the studio first

A good brief saves a round of changes. Send the drawings in the format the studio asks for, usually CAD or a 3D model. Add the finish schedule, the planting plan and a few photos of the site at the time of day you want shown. Mark the two or three views that matter most for sales. Then share a short list of reference images you like, and one or two you don’t. Most delays come from missing finishes, not from the studio.

Keep renderings honest

A rendering shows a plan, not a promise. Label renderings as “artist’s rendering” in ads and listings. Don’t show views, finishes or amenities that aren’t in the contract. Buyers do compare the brochure with the finished unit.

Do you need a rendering to sell an existing home?

Usually not. Renderings shine before a building exists. For a home that’s already built, buyers want to see the real rooms. What helps most is bright photos, a clear floor plan and, for empty rooms, some virtual staging.

A rendering does help when you’re selling a lot with plans, or a home with a planned addition. Show it next to real photos, and say clearly what’s built and what isn’t.

Selling by owner? Beycome’s flat fee MLS listing starts at $99 with $0 due to us at closing, and includes the maximum photos your MLS allows. Enhanced, at $399, adds a professional photo shoot. A pro shoot can also be added to Basic for $189.

Frequently asked questions

What is a real estate rendering?

A computer-made image of a building or room, usually before it’s built. Developers use renderings to pre-sell units, win approvals and raise money.

What does a real estate rendering company do?

It turns plans into images, animations and virtual tours. Some, like Freedes Studio, also handle branding and the sales campaign.

What is a 3D real estate rendering firm?

A studio that builds a 3D model of a planned home or building from its drawings, then turns it into still images, animations or interactive tours for marketing and approvals.

How do I choose an architectural rendering studio?

Look for real estate work like yours, ask who does the work, and get the views, change rounds, image rights and delivery date in writing.

How long does a rendering project take?

It depends on the scope and the studio. Lunas, for example, says its web tools typically go live in 1 to 2 weeks. Ask each studio for a written schedule.

Are renderings allowed in home listings?

Generally yes, if they’re clearly labeled and don’t mislead. Check your MLS rules and show real photos for any home that’s already built.

Is 3D rendering the same as 3D modeling?

No. Modeling builds the digital object. Rendering creates the final image from that model, with light, materials and camera angle.
